Good morning, steadfast SunLive readers, and welcome to what must be the 47th (?) Sunday of the year.
That's quite a lot of Sundays – way more than a month. So I guess a ‘month of Sundays is just over half a year, huh?
But I digress. Today's weather forecast is for a high of 20 degrees and a low of 13, with rain clearing by this afternoon. However, there will apparently be more ‘gusty southeasterlies' (like yesterday) so it could be advisable to stay indoors.
One activity going ahead rain or shine (or wind) is Downtown Tauranga and the Mauao Performing Arts Centre's new community initiative ‘Sing! Sing! Sing!'.
This afternoon at Baycourt, hundreds will gather to unite their voices for suicide prevention. Those who attend will receive a lyric sheet and, under the experienced guidance of music tutor and teacher Emily Macklow, the choir will be split into sections to learn and practice the arrangement.
This will culminate in a live performance of the song that will be recorded on film and broadcast on YouTube. A surprise guest star lead vocalist and guitarist will join the choir for this special performance.
Entry is just $5 on the door with all proceeds going to the amazing and vital Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust. Doors open at 3.30pm. This will be a popular event and space is limited so come early as it's a first in first served event.
However, if, like me, you can't sing to save yourself, there's always other things to do on a Sunday in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty. Check out today's other events below:
