Traffic is now flowing after a truck breakdown on Hewlett's Road.

Eastbound traffic is reported to have come to a standstill for a short period of time this morning following the incident.

A reporter who was at the scene says it appears the truck broke down just before the set of traffic lights near Tasman Quay at around 7.30am.

"It appears as if the tow bar broke on a tree feller's truck which looked to be towing a large wood chipper.

"It was stuck in the middle lane."

A police media spokesperson says the truck has now been removed from the scene and traffic is flowing.
