Papamoa College fire reports false alarm

UPDATED 7.17AM: A fire alarm sounding at Papamoa College sparked firefighters to investigate reports of a fire this morning.

Firefighters were called to the school on Doncaster Drive just before 7am.

A fire was initially reported in one of the buildings at the school.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency shift manager Paul Radden says it was a fire alarm.

"It was just a fire alarm."

Firefighters have since been stood down.

Reports are coming in of a fire at Papamoa College this morning.

Firefighters have been called to the school on Doncaster Drive.

It's reported there is a fire in the administration block of the college, says a New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokesperson.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says they can hear multiple fire sirens sounding in the Papamoa/Mount area.
