Another beautiful day in Tauranga

Today's forecast is for a fine day with southwesterlies dying out.

It's a three-clothing and one-windproof layer day today with a high of 18 and an overnight low of nine degrees.

Low tide is at 11.20am and high tide is at 5.40pm. Sea temperature has risen by one degree from the last few weeks of 15 degees, up to 16 degrees. There's an average sea swell of about .3m and sunset tonight is at 7.30pm.

If you're going fishing today the best fish bite time is between 10am and 12 noon.

This day in NZ history, in 1877 Chief Justice Sir James Prendergast declared The Treaty of Waitangi 'worthless' and a 'simple nullity'.

The Chief Justice's statements when delivering judgment in the case of Wi Parata v The Bishop of Wellington would influence decision-making on Treaty of Waitangi issues for decades.

This day in world history in 1913 Zeppelin LII exploded over London, killing 28. In 1933 on this day, due to rising anti-Semitism and anti-intellectualism in Hitler's Germany, Albert Einstein, the Nobel-prize-winning physicist, fled Nazi Germany and moved to the United States.

Our quote for today is from Roy T. Bennett who said 'Respect other people's feelings. It might mean nothing to you, but it could mean everything to them.”
