Infinity Football Academy is growing in Term 4, with registrations now open for U12 boys.

The U12 programme joins their already successful U14 boys and U16 boys and girls teams in providing quality football training in Tauranga.

The Tauranga City U14 team won the recent Bay of Plenty league for their age group, while an U15 squad recently beat Rotorua 15-nil.

Just at the weekend the academy took a U13 boys team down to the McCartney Invitation Tournament in Taupo, where they topped their grade, winning eight games from eight.

The academy's U15 team also finished fourth in a tough pool.

All this success means they must be doing something right. Academy coach Gareth Thomson came to New Zealand from Scotland earlier this year with more than seven years of coaching experience. He initially started his own private academy, but was quickly headhunted for Infinity.

'When I heard about it, I was really keen to get involved,” he says. 'We've got a really strong team culture. We try and make everything player-led, so developing new leaders is important.”

In Term 4, every team will be training twice a week at various fields across the city. There will also be skills centres for eight to 12-year-olds running three times a week after school.
