Cash taken in Bethlehem robbery

UPDATED 2.28PM: A quantity of cash has been taken in a robbery in Bethlehem this afternoon.

A police spokesperson says officers are responding to a robbery at the Bethlehem TAB.

Police were called to the scene at 1.30pm

'At this stage it appears two men entered the premises, have taken a quantity of cash and left in a stolen car.

'The CIB is in attendance and police are actively trying to locate the two men and are speaking to witnesses.”

People with information about the robbery can contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

EARLIER:

Reports are coming in of a robbery in Bethlehem this afternoon.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there was a robbery at the TAB on State Highway 2 in Bethlehem.

The caller says that the alleged offenders were reported to have been armed.

SunLive is working on getting confirmation from police about what has happened.

A reporter at the scene says police are at the scene speaking with witnesses and surrounding businesses.
