Woman cut free from truck crash

A woman is in serious condition following a crash between two trucks near Thames.

Emergency services, including the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust, were called to the two truck crash on Kopu-Hikuai Road around 11.20am yesterday.

A spokesperson for the rescue helicopter says a woman in her 40s was a passenger in a light truck that went into the back of a larger truck.

'She was encased in the cab for about an hour.

'She was flown to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.”

The crash forced police to close down the road for a brief time.
