Person thrown from car in Mount crash

One person has sustained serious injuries after being thrown from a car in a crash in Mount Maunganui late last night.

Emergency services attended the scene at Maunganui Road between Bain St and Hinau St, near Blake Park.

A police media spokesperson says the crash was reported to them at 10.48pm.

'It appears that a car hit a stationary truck.

'One person from the car appears to have been thrown from it and was taken to hospital, with what was believed to be serious injuries.

'The road was closed for some time but reopened once the scene had been examined and cleared.”

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating, says police.

So we can assume that none of the passengers were wearing any seatbelts... and driving too fast - with a possibility of alcohol involved perhaps?

A great idea to have in cars.... an even better idea to use them I guess? Also, a good idea to keep an eye out for parked trucks. Hopefully all will pull through ok...
