UPDATED 1.31PM: State Highway 25A is now open following a two truck crash.
The highway was closed for a time to allow police and other emergency services to work at the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
One person was cut free from a wreck after two trucks collided on a Coromandel highway.
The collision happened on State Highway 25A on the Kopu Hikuai Rd at 11.30am on Thursday.
A helicopter was dispatched to the scene near the Stadia Stream Bridge to fly the injured person to hospital, Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Colin Underdown said.
Crews from Pauanui, Tairua and Thames attended the crash.
They used hydraulic equipment to cut the trapped driver out.

Police say the road will be closed for about half an hour.
