Cyclist seriously injured in crash

One cyclist has been hit by a vehicle on State Highway 2, near Huna Rd, in Whakatane.

A police media spokesperson says that a report was received about a vehicle collision on Huna Road in Whakatane.

'Police received a report at around 7.40am about a crash involving a car and a cyclist.”

'Ambulance and police are at the scene and it looks like the cyclist has serious injuries.”

Are weapons, perhaps they should be banned from the roads? That would eliminate all the risk of harm to cyclists. Add to that bridges for cyclists are cheaper to build (although still very expensive see Sunlive 27/9/2017 @ 12.12pm article). But that could be acceptable if one did not need also to build a road for cars also?
