Bay on watch for severe weather

A severe weather watch has been issued for the Bay of Plenty.

Heavy rain is being forecast for the region, particularly about the ranges of the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

'A moist northwest flow affects the upper North Island bringing periods of heavy rain to the ranges of eastern Bay of Plenty until this evening,” says the MetService.

'People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts in case this Watch is upgraded to a full Warning or further areas are added.”

Area: The ranges of eastern Bay of Plenty

Valid: 9 hours from 9am to 6pm Wednesday

Forecast: Periods of heavy rain expected until this (Wednesday) evening when rainfall accumulations may approach warning amounts (eg.

60 to 70 mm in 9 hours).

I suspect we can expect these extreme cycles to become normal life from here on. Maybe even get worse. Meanwhile, we continue to use our 2 cars and our big jet aeroplanes, a bit similar to how a super phosphate spreader distributes fertiliser all over the farm.
