A crash has occurred on State Highway One, Wairakei, near Taupo.
Emergency services are responding to the crash on State Highway 1, which occurred at around 12.15pm.
A number of vehicles are reported to be involved and the road is blocked in both directions.
Police says two people appear to be trapped in their vehicles.
Diversions are in place and motorists have been asked to drive with caution and follow signage.
