A Tauranga man is facing an assault charge in relation to the assault of two teenagers on a train.

The 35-year-old man was charged today as police continue their investigation.

The accused is facing a charge of assault with intent to injure, says Senior Constable Gene Smith.

The charge relates to an assault which happened in Auckland on August 12.

Gene says the man will appear in the Auckland District Court on September 27.

'Police are making further enquiries and would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.”

The two teen victims were travelling from Britomart to Avondale when five men, dressed in Four Square costumes, attacked the teens. The men are believed to have been travelling to the Auckland Darts Masters competition at the Trusts Arena in Henderson.

Police says it was a "completely unprovoked attack".

A second man, 31, is already facing charges in relation to the train incident. He was charged with indecent exposure.
