Current World Doubles Squash Champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy are set to make a strong appearance in Tauranga tonight.

The pair will compete at the New Zealand Doubles Championships which is being held at the Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre.

Claiming their second World Doubles title in Manchester last month, Joelle and Amanda are in hot form and take the top spot in the Women's Open draw.

The duo will be looking to defend their national doubles title against former Commonwealth Games representatives Kylie Lindsay and Jaclyn Hawkes in the final.

There is set to be some rivalry between the pairings, with Jaclyn having previously competed with Joelle at the 2010 Commonwealth Games where they won gold in the Women's Doubles.

Joelle and Amanda will also pair up and compete in the Men's Open for further training experience ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games.

Their programme for the Championship doesn't finish there with these high performance athletes also teaming up with men in the Mixed Open Division.

Top ranked junior girl Kaitlyn Watts who recently represented New Zealand at the World Junior Squash Championships teams up with Kashif Shuja to take the top seeding in the Mixed Open draw.

Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre has had a busy year with the recent hosting of the successful World Junior Squash Championships, exposing the city to some fast paced and enthralling action and this is set to continue this weekend.

Joelle and Amanda kick off their campaign tonight at 5.30pm (Women's Open) and again at 8.30pm (Men's Open).
