Major water main break Mount to Papamoa

Residents from Mount Maunganui to Papamoa are being advised to conserve their water. File photo.

Tauranga City Council staff are asking people who live at Mount Maunganui, Omanu, Arataki and Papamoa to conserve their water wherever possible on Sunday September 3.

Water feeding Mount Maunganui and Papamoa has been cut off from the rest of the network by a major water main break.

People who live between Domain Road and Adams Avenue are now relying on the water from local reservoirs that can't be refilled until the pipe break is fixed.

Council asks people to conserve water just in case there are any complications with the repairs or in case there is further disruption to the water supply network.

If all goes well with repairs, normal water supply should be restored by mid afternoon on Sunday September 3. Sunlive will update this once there is new information from Tauranga City Council is available.

Please share this important message with friends and family who live or work in the affected area.

How about MORE ratepayer money spent on REAL need to have services and less on warm fuzzey wuzzey we would like!!!Water supply to HALF of the population OUT! What happens in a reasonable earthquake - NO water to the WHOLE city!!!!!!

That was a pretty significant seismic event on Nov 14. One wonders if it was the root of this new break. I guess they will tell us once it's dug up and inspected. Thanks to TCC for your efforts.
