Twenty years' service recognised

After 20 years of service to the Whangamata Combo Sports Club, including four years as President, Jan Seales has been awarded a special plaque in recognition of her service.

The award was given at the club's annual general meeting on Sunday, where a new committee was also appointed, including the election of the new president, Shaun Fay.

Shaun follows the footsteps of Geoff Mellsop, who is regarded by the club as 'Mr Community”.

The meeting also revealed some exciting plans for the year including more sponsorship and marketing opportunities for the club, and the introduction of new coaches Shannon Paki and Rita Paczian who will assist in junior coaching.

The AGM was also followed by a social tennis tournament which was won by Ange Dewhirst and Murray Ward, who were the winners of the Cafe 646 $50 vouchers.

The Whangamata Combo Sports Club is one of the most active and successful clubs in New Zealand and its membership numbers are on the rise.
