Witnesses to a house fire in Papamoa says flames had fully 'engulfed” the property.
Firefighters were called to the house fire on Cassinia Close at about 7.15pm.
A Northern Fire Service Communications spokesperson says crews from Greerton, Mount Maunganui, Te Puke and Papamoa were called to the fire.
"The house was unoccupied and well involved when crews arrived at the scene.
Police blocked off the road as fire crews dealt with the blaze.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
