Fine spells with a chance of rain

Video and photos by Rosalie Liddle Crawford.

Today the weather forecast is for fine spells, with a chance of showers until the evening and northwest breezes.

It's a three-clothing layer day today with a high of 16 and an overnight low of nine degrees.

This day in NZ history in 1944 CORSO was formed.

As the Second World War drew towards an end, people realised that a massive aid effort would be required to rehabilitate war-torn nations.

While fighting continued overseas, a group of New Zealanders concerned with the provision of aid met and decided to join forces as the Council of Organisations for Relief Service Overseas (CORSO).

Check out what else happened on this day in NZ history, and what's on today in the rest of our morning weather wrap video.

Have a great day!
