Fatal crash investigations ongoing

One passenger remains in serious but stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash which killed a Te Puke man on Sunday.

Two people were involved in the fatal crash after a people-mover type vehicle hit a large tree in on Jellicoe Street about 6pm.

Emergency services were called to the accident and a police spokesperson confirmed that the driver of the vehicle had died at the scene.

The passenger was transported to Tauranga Hospital in critical condition at the time of the crash.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion say the passenger is now in a serious but stable condition.

The Serious Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and there is no further information available at this stage.
