A rainy day for the Bay

Today the weather forecast is for rain, with some heavy falls, and easing to showers in the evening. Northerlies changing to westerly overnight.

It's a two-clothing layer day today with a high of 17 and an overnight low of 10 degrees.

MetService reports a complex low over the Tasman Sea and its associated fronts are forecast to affect many parts of New Zealand.

Heavy rain associated with the fronts is expected to affect the west and north of the South Island and the northern half of the North Island during this period. The heaviest falls are expected about Westland, Buller, Nelson, the Richmond Range, North Taranaki including the Mountain, Tongariro National Park and Bay of Plenty.

A Heavy Rain Warning is in force for these places. The Heavy Rain Watch for Bay of Plenty west of Whakatane including Rotorua has been upgraded to a full Warning.
