The driver who left the scene of an accident in Welcome Bay Road last night, left his front bumper behind say police.

The crash at the intersection with Kaitemako Road happened about 5.40pm in heavy rain.

A stationary vehicle waiting to turn was struck on the side by another vehicle that failed to stop, says Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion.

'We are aware of the vehicle type, the front bumper was left behind,” says Ian. 'Inquiries are being made to locate the driver of that vehicle.”

A woman passenger in the struck vehicle was taken to Tauranga Hospital after receiving facial injuries.

I also experience a similar episode on Elizabeth Street back on 21st April, the b*****d rear ended me, then backed up and fled the scene, but the idiot also left his bumper "attached" to the rear of my car, also now with Police. Result, serious whiplash, fear of driving and loss of excess because "it" had just purchased the vehicle and the change of ownership had not been completed! Police still looking for this one!

Yeh, disgusting. You are a victim of the half arsed motor insurance regime and under resourced Police. That vehicle could be traced but it would require too many man hours. No such thing as justice unless you dish it out yourself.
