ACG Tauranga's new state-of-the-art gym and sports complex officially opened today, with Principal Shawn Hutchinson describing it as a significant investment into building an exceptional private school environment for the Bay of Plenty.

He says the new facility reflects ACG's commitment to providing a ‘holistic education for our pupils and the region'.

'We are providing educational choice for families currently living in, or looking to move to, the Bay of Plenty.”

The three-level gym is located at the heart of ACG Tauranga's 14.8 hectare campus in Pyes Pa, and overlooks the sports fields, with covered viewing areas providing seating for up to 500 spectators.

The gym will also provide space for assemblies and school productions, as well as lunchtime and afterschool clubs and activities.

ACG Tauranga will also make the new facility available for interschool sports and cultural and community events.

The new complex was opened by Bay of Plenty MP Todd Muller, who describes it as a state-of-the-art facility that will contribute significantly to the Bay of Plenty's sporting, cultural and community needs now and in the years to come.

'This isn't just a high quality asset for the school, but for the wider community, who will help ensure it is used to its full potential, and this can only be good for our growing city,” says Todd.

'Independent schools make such a contribution to not only our educational system, but the wider community they serve, and I really want to acknowledge that contribution.”

ACG Tauranga is the only school in the region offering Cambridge International Examination programmes, which can provide students access to international academic opportunities.

'We personalise our teaching to ensure every student can flourish,” says Shawn.

'Our approach is underpinned by optimally-sized classes and one-on-one tuition for children in the areas where they require extra support. We have a strong academic focus, and this new sports complex reflects our awareness of the need to ensure that sports and recreational opportunities are also well catered for.”
