A one-year-old boy suffering from a serious medical condition had to be flown to hospital for immediate care.
The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria at 3pm after the boy fell ill.
'The helicopter met a St John ambulance at a sports field and the patient was flown to Gisborne Hospital,” says pilot Todd Dunham.
'The helicopter was called due to the distance by road to the hospital.”
