Man accused of baby murder in court

The man accused of murdering a three-month-old baby boy in Tauranga has been granted interim name suppression.

The trial into the death of Richard Uddin started in the High Court at Tauranga today.

The accused, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has denied murdering the three-month-old on June 7, 2016.

Richard died in Tauranga Hospital after he was found unresponsive at his Tauranga home.

He had been taken to the hospital for treatment but died a short time later.

The trial into the baby boy's death is expected to continue throughout this week.
