Medical callout for rescue chopper

A man suffering from a medical condition needed urgent medical attention, and the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter came to his aid.

The 68-year-old man fell ill near Matarangi around 1.30pm yesterday.

The Tauranga-based rescue helicopter was tasked to fly the man to Waikato Hospital.

'The helicopter met a road ambulance at the old Matarangi airfield and St John paramedics stabilised the patient before being flown to Waikato Hospital,” says pilot Todd Dunham.

'The helicopter was called due to the medical condition and distance by road to the appropriate hospital.”
