UPADTED: 7.30AM: Racing in the America's Cup Challenge has restarted after winds dropped leaving Emirates Team New Zealand and Sweden's Artemis drifting in the water.

According to Stuff, it was a clean start to the race and NZ is out to a 250m lead now.

The America's Cup challenger final race between Emirates Team New Zealand and Sweden's Artemis Racing was abandoned on Monday when the wind dropped mid-race, leaving the two catamarans drifting and unable to complete the course.

New Zealand had led the race after Sweden were penalised for being over the start but Nathan Outteridge's crew managed to make gains in fluky winds to get back into contention before incurring another penalty for fouling rival Peter Burling.

The wind in Bermuda's Great Sound then dropped away to almost nothing after a rain squall had passed, meaning neither crew were able to complete the course within the 25-minute limit.

New Zealand lead Sweden 4-2 in the first-to-five series, with the winner going on to challenge America's Cup holders Oracle Team USA.

"I think the forecast is expect the unexpected today," Outteridge said on BT Sports television.

According to the latest tweet from America's Cup Bermuda, racing will start again 4.25pm (Bermuda time).
