Toi Ohomai’s first open day

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is hosting the first open day under its new name this Friday.

Visitors from high schools and the general public will get to tour the Windermere campus and find out more about courses and student life.

Prospective students will get to experience a range of options including: business, sport & recreation, media studies, construction, beauty, nursing, engineering, social work and automotive.

There will also be a staff member present from the Rotorua campus to talk about forestry.

It will be the first time visitors to an Open Day get to see the new Te Ara O Mauao building, which was officially opened earlier this year.

This year will also feature nine graduates speaking for the first time to students about their journey from education into the workforce.

Event organiser Nikki Hansen says the Open Day is a fantastic opportunity to experience Toi Ohomai.

'We have over 30 information sessions for students to go to, showcasing the scope and choice of study options that we now offer as the Bay of Plenty's largest tertiary provider,” she says.

'There will also be a live graffiti display as part of the entertainment which ties in with our involvement with Paradox and supporting art in the Bay, plus music and giveaways. So it will be an exciting as well as informative day for prospective students.”

The Open Day starts at 9am and finishes at 1.30pm, Friday May 26.
