People in the Bay of Plenty are reporting feeling an earthquake this afternoon.
GeoNet has recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake about 3.08pm.
Whakatane District Council has since taken to Facebook saying its staff had felt the quake.
The 5.1 quake was 40km deep and struck 30km south-east of Matawai.
