Motorists travelling along Hewletts Road are being warned to expect delays as a caravan has lost one of its wheels.

The caravan, which was being towed by 4WD, is now blocking one lane of the road heading from Tauranga towards Bayfair.

People are directing traffic around the caravan and police have been called to the scene.

It's unclear how long the caravan will be in the middle of the road for.

A witness to the incident says traffic is flowiing at the moment.

"Our [1st Call Recruitment] Managing Director Phill Van Syp has done a great job managing the traffic."

Nobody thought of using a trolley jack, a dolly, pallet jack or any other wheeled device to simply get it out of the way? Not to mention, a real 4 wheel drive could simply tow it off the road without the wheel if it cant simply be jacked up and the wheel put back on. Then again, I am pretty sure the ability to think and general problem solving is getting pretty rare these days?

Umm.... GreertonBoy ... why on earth would anyone want to continue towing it without a wheel and just cause even more damage. And it takes more than the sec it took to take this pic, to actually jack it up and put the wheel back on.All it takes is for human beings to be kinder and have a little more patience. This is what we have less of in these situations nowadays (not as you say, an inability to think)
