Broken down truck causes delays

UPDATED 4.15PM: The New Zealand Transport Agency is advising motorists that State Highway 2 near Papamoa is now fully reopened.

Southbound motorists were faced with lengthy delays after a truck broke down on the Tauranga Eastern Link and blocked one lane near the Domain Road roundabout at about 2.30pm.

A mechanic was dispatched to the scene and the truck was eventually fixed shortly after 4pm.

The NZTA thanks motorists for their patience this afternoon.

People are being advised to expect delays on State Highway 2, near Papamoa this afternoon.

A truck has broken down on one lane near the Domain Road roundabout.

One of SunLive's photographers is caught up in the traffic and says "it's bloody horrendous".

Police have been notified of the situation and a mechanic has been called to come and fixed the truck so it can be moved.

In the meantime, people are being asked to be patient if travelling in the area or avoid the area altogether until the road is clear.

And because of the captioned, other road users had to wait to enter the off-ramp longer than they should have. HANDS UP THE QUEUE JUMPERS - AT LEAST 2 CONCRETE MIXER TRUCKS!!!!
