Motorists are being warned to drive with care following a three car crash on Cameron Road this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 8.15am, down by Mega Mitre 10.

A witness to the accident says it looked to have been head-on between two cars, with a third being caught up in the crash.

He says the cars are being pushed off the road, but the crash has created major traffic jams.

'The road is still open.”

Meanwhile, police are being called to a crash in Maungatapu.

A car is reported to have crashed through a fence on Te Hono St, while a car is reported to have crashed with a scooter on Links Ave.

Heavy rain is expected in the region today, making for some slippery conditions on the roads.

Motorists are being advised to adjust their speeds accordingly.

These fools crashing into each other and things like trees and other obstacles, will be driving another car in an hour or two. There needs to be more investigation into drivers crashing other than the cops finding which party to 'blame' so insurance can be finalised. Whether it was vehicle related (bald tyres, faulty vehicle)or distraction from 'technology', booze or drug related, or just poor driving skills, it needs to be found out and the things that can be 'fixed' should be. As I see it, all parties in these accidents are at fault. In this case, one is guilty of causing the accident and 2 are guilty of not avoiding the accident. Drivers have to be aware of what is going on around them on the road and avoid the car coming at them on the wrong side of the road or failing to give way
