Fire rips through Thames house

 

Firefighters are battling a house blaze near Thames this morning.

Crews were called to the fire on Thames Coast road at Waiomu just before 6am.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Paul Radden says there are fire crews from Thames and Tapu at the site, along with a tanker from Puriri.

"Due to limited water in the area a couple of water tankers have been sent."

Paul says it's unclear if anyone was home when the house caught fire.

Police have been called to the scene and the cause is yet to be determined.
