Three young Western Bay of Plenty people were presented with AMP scholarships at Rothbury Financial Services last night to help further current life goals.
Rotorua student and runner, 18-year-old Liam Walsh received $5000 to help further his sporting career while he studies medicine.

He’s the current New Zealand steeplechase champion and wanted ‘as much as possible’ from the AMP scholarship to fund his medical school studies and to assist with transport to overseas sporting fixtures.
The former John Paul College head boy and Rotorua Young Person of the Year, says he would compete in one or two overseas competitions each year if he had the money.

Gabe Dovaston 23, who is working as a wholesale warehouse assistant in Te Puke, received a $3000 AMP scholarship to go to the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, for a year.
Gabe is known for wining second place in the world wide Steve Vai guitar scholarship competition, and also holds a batchelor of media arts in commercial music, and an Honors degree in commercial music. He is also a qualified Pro Tools engineer.
Philipa Eyre is a 27 year old sales analyst from Matua who plans to use Neuro Linguistic Programming to contribute, not only to a person’s sporting ability but to their whole being.
Philipa received an AMP scholarship of $2000 to go towards her NLP certification. The school is in Melbourne and there are a number of courses
So far Philipa has completed a BA in psychology as a base for future study, specialising in sports psychology and is successfully using the coaching skills of NLP to begin changing her own life.
