Judging underway for photo exhibition

Judging begins.

Judging is underway for the Trustpower Phtotographic Exhibition. The theme of the competition and exhibition is ‘Our Place to Shine.'

'We have been inundated with entries,” says Downtown Tauranga's project manager Sally Cooke.

'These photos are now in front of the judging panel and winners will be chosen.”

The regional photography exhibition was launched to showcase and celebrate the Bay of Plenty area and the talent residing here.

Downtown Tauranga believes the exhibition will be the largest exhibition of images of the Western Bay of Plenty and its people.

There are four themed entry categories. They are Our Heritage, Land & Sea, Our People and Emotion.

The competition has attracted entries from amateur and professional photographers.

The exhibition opens on Friday, January 27, and runs until Sunday, April 9.

Judging will be complete by tomorrow.

The judging panel includes Carolyn Schofield (Trustpower), Belinda Francis (Media Works), Paul Byrne (Tauranga Photographic Society), Anton Steel (BOP Film), Tara Fowler (Tuskany Agency), Claire Rogers (The Weekend Sun), Jenny Rudd (UNO. Magazine), Karl Chitham (Tauranga Art Gallery), Kristin Dunn (Tourism BOP) and Cr Larry Baldock (Tauranga City Council). Once the winning photos have been selected they will be displayed in a large outdoor photographic exhibition on The Strand, in Downtown Tauranga.
