When much-loved Kiwi musician Tiki Taane takes to the stage at the International Tattoo and Art Expo in Tauranga next year he'll be joined by one very special young guest.

But just who exactly that special young guest will be is still yet to be decided – and Tiki needs your help!

The musician who's literally adorned from head to toe in tattoos is calling on young musicians and performers, aged 12-18, to record themselves singing all or some of his hit tune ‘Always on My Mind' and post it to his Facebook page.

The prize you ask? The young person who Tiki selects will join him on stage to sing the sing on the Sunday of the expo which is taking place on February 18-19, 2017.

'I went to the last expo and it was really cool, it's great to see tattoo culture make it into Tauranga which is really awesome. And there's so many amazing tattoo artists in Tauranga so it's a really good chance for people to check out what's going on locally.

'I got talking to the expo's organiser Chris Preece who I know well, he said it'd be great if I could play the next expo and we were talking about how we could involve the youth a little bit more so we came up with the idea of this competition.”

'All I'm asking for is maybe a verse, a couple of lines of vocals, maybe 30 seconds to a minute of singing and just post it on my page, then I'll go through all the posts and choose someone by early February.”

Not only will one talented young perform be given the chance to share the stage with Tiki, they'll also be performing a song that holds a very special place in his heart.

'It's areally special song for me, I still buzz out when I walk down the street and someone's busking and singing 'Always on My Mind', or I walk past a bar and there's a covers band playing it. I still buzz out at that, I think it's awesome.

'I love that song, I still play it with a lot of love and I'm so stoked that people enjoy it.”

The Annual International Tattoo and Art Expo is on at Tauranga's Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre on Saturday and Sunday, February 18-19 2017, from 11am-9pm. For more information visit: tattooexpo.co.nz
