Boy star appears in court

No plea was entered when Boy star James Rolleston appeared in court charged in relation to a high speed crash earlier this year.

Rolleston and a friend of his were injured in a crash in the Eastern Bay of Plenty on July 26.

Police say when staff arrived at the scene James was trapped inside the car and had to be cut free from the wreckage.

The car was written off and police were forced to shut down the road for an hour to clear the wreckage.

Rolleston spent several months in a rehabilitation unit following the crash.

He is charged with driving a vehicle at a speed that was dangerous to the public, thereby injuring Kaleb Maxwell.

During his appearance in Opotiki District Court today, he stayed seated in the public gallery while his lawyer spoke to the registrar and police prosecutor.

No plea was entered and Rolleston will appear again in February.

Outside court, he and his lawyer had no comment, and wandered off towards the town centre.
