Western Bay of Plenty Secondary School Div One competition leaders Mount Maunganui Gold have the opportunity to wrap up the Term Four title this Saturday, with a game to spare.

Last weekend the Mount Gold side extended their unbeaten run to five, with what turned into a hard fought battle with Tauranga Boys' College Colts.

The TBC Colts, who sit at the bottom of the current standings, were bowled out for what looked to be a modest 76. Dam McNaught top scored for TBC with unbeaten 20 runs, with Connor Lucas taking three wickets for the Mount side.

Tauranga Boys' bowler Matt James was in top form with the ball grabbing four wickets for just seven runs. However a fighting knock of 27 by Mitchell Dickson greatly assisted the Mount Gold side getting home for the loss of seven wickets.

In other Div One matches round five matches, Bethlehem College repelled a strong challenge from Cadets before posting a 60 run victory. The star of the match was Cadets player Briana Perry, who attends Tauranga Girls' College, with four wickets and 32 runs. Matt Davis top scored for Bethlehem College with 68 while Cam Murray finished with bowling figures of 5/20.

John Paul College chased down TBC White total of 98 for the loss of four wickets, with TBC Blue winning by default from Trident High School.

On Saturday Mount Maunganui Gold play Cadets who sit mid table. Second placed Bethlehem College meet TBC Blue at Bethlehem College headquarters, Trident High School host TBC White, with John Paul College home to TBC Colts.

The Division Two encounter between TBC Sabina and Bethlehem College two finished in a rare as hens teeth tie. TBC Sabina batted first and posted 166/7, with Bethlehem College finishing on the identical mark of 166 with a solitary wicket to spare.

Waihi College nailed their first win of the season beating Mount Maunganui Green, with TBC Kensington defeating Cadets.

Next Saturday, competition front-runners TBC Sabina square off with Mount Green, TBC Cavaliers play Bethlehem College two, with TBC Kensington meeting Waihi College at Fergusson Park.
