The Salvation Army's Christmas campaign has been given a major boost thanks to facilities management company OCS Limited and Cannon New Zealand.

During OCS' annual conference held last week the company presented the Sallies with a cash donation of $15,150 plus hundreds of food and household items for Rotorua foodbank.

Managing director Gareth Marriott says with more than 4100 staff around New Zealand, the company wanted to support a charity making a big difference in all communities around the country.

'Already this year we've been involved with the 14 Hours Homeless event, and each of our 23 branches across the country will be doing various activities to help stock Salvation Army foodbanks leading up to Christmas.

'This is just the start of our relationship with the Salvation Army and we're looking forward to supporting them long into the future.”

Rotorua Salvation Army corps officer Ralph Overbye says the contribution is much appreciated as the need for food and support is year-round.

'We can't offer the service we provide without help from people and organisations like OCS. The donation is great.”

In addition, OCS has also donated 4000 products including personal items like shampoo, deodorant and toothbrushes to the Salvation Army's Waitakere Centre on Monday.
