UPDATED 12.10PM: One person has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 29 near Te Poi.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the fatal crash involving a car and a bus colliding near the intersection of Stopford Road and SH29.

Police say SH29 is now closed between Stopford Road and the turn-off to Tauranga via the Kaimai Ranges and diversions are in place.

There were no other reported injuries.

The Police Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit, and the Serious Crash Unit, is in attendance and will be investigating the cause of the crash.

State Highway 29, near Te Poi, is closed after a car and bus have crashed.

Emergency services have been called to the scene and are understood to be working on removing a person trapped on the car.

No other information is available at this stage.

People travelling in the area are asked to either delay their travels or use an alternative route.
