Two Mount Maunganui eateries have been named in the Travellers' Choice top 10 cheap eateries.

They are the Turkish Delight Café, which came in at number three, and Pronto at number eight.

The Top 10 lists are the product of the Travellers' Choice Awards, and announced this week on the popular travel website TripAdvisor.

The winning cheap eatery was Ali Baba's Tunisian Takeaways in Rotorua.

One reviewer said Ali Baba's provided huge portions of delicious food, the staff is friendly and they really care about the food they make.

Another said it was interesting they had to go to Rotorua to eat Tunisian for the first time.

The winner in the Travellers' Choice Top 10 Fine Dining Restaurants was The French café in Auckland.

Chief executive of the Restaurant Association, Marisa says the awards help to communicate to the rest of the world the strength of New Zealand's food culture.
