Leeder re-elected BOPRC chair

Doug Leeder has been re-elected chair of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council Toi Moana for a second three year term.

He received unanimous support from all councillors at the regional council's inaugural meeting in Whakatāne today.

'I am looking forward to progressing the five community outcomes; water quality and quantity, environmental protection, resilience and safety, economic development, and leadership for the Bay of Plenty.”

Jane Nees was also unanimously elected Deputy Chair, a position she's held for the past three years.

The Bay of Plenty Regional Councillors also sworn in today:

  • Andrew Von Dadelzen (Tauranga General)
  • Kevin Winters (Rotorua General)
