Lawnmower spinal injury

A 57 year old Ruatoki man has been flown to Middlemore Hospital's spinal unit after falling over backwards in his shed on Monday afternoon.

He was working in his shed on his lawnmower when the accident happened about 3pm. The flight was made by the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

When i was little, and me Brother in law was working on a mower on his work bench,he had put a new plug in ,he pulled the starter cord it come to life and little did he know he left a screwdriver under it it flew out and lodged in his stomach,i remember this as plain as day, when i saw him come out with this in him,he pulled it out, me blister took him to Wanganui horsepital, and gave him a HARD PILL and sent him home,Gosh today we have Helicopters those days was Horse and Konaki, Thankyou to the guys on this Rescue for your AWESOME service,you would have been a Godsend in the old days,to help us in the Bush in our Tin hats and shorts,also when we were Shearing and the Shearer was doing the long blow and the sheep kicked it opened up fromwristtoelbow,no1thankyou.
