A Rotorua man was taken to hospital overnight with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a gun shot.

Police are now investigating and believe the 23-year-old man's injuries are related to reports of gunshots heard on Paradise Valley Road just before 11pm on Thursday night.

'Investigations are ongoing at the scene on Paradise Valley Road. Police would like to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area last night.”

Police say the 23-year-old man's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
