Lots of love for Homes of Hope

The One Love Festival is returning to Tauranga next February and once again they're making a generous donation to Homes of Hope.

One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the charity that provides foster care to children who are hoping to use the proceeds to purchase a new van for the trust.

Festival organiser Pato Alvarez is pleased to be partnering with the group again.

'The main reason we support Homes of Hope is because they're doing an awesome job. They're looking after the kids, which is so important. Kids are the future.

'Their work touches me because I have a six-year-old and ten-month-old and I work hard to teach them to be good as they grow up.”

With 10,000 tickets to One Love already sold, that's a guaranteed $10,000 for Homes of Hope and Pato says they're well on track to matching last year's donation of $15,000.

Homes of Hope communications administrator Lynne Matthews is thankful for the support they receive from Pato and the festival.

'We are so grateful for the money. What we received last year enabled us to grow our services, which is good because we have six more children than last year. So it's wonderful what Pato does for us.”

Pato would love to see more local businesses getting involved with charities.

'We run a successful event, and it's good to share the love with the community,” he says.

'It would be good for other businesses to maybe choose a charity and get involved. It doesn't take much, and it helps a lot.”
