UPDATED: A dog has had a lucky escape after its owner's vehicle rolled down a hill and ended up on its side on Waihi Road this morning.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the dog was inside the car at the time it overturned near the roundabout where Waihi and Otumoetai roads this morning.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at about 9.13am.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion confirms no humans were inside the at the time of the crash and there were no injuries as a result.
A witness to the crash says the driver of the car had been inside a nearby building when the car started to roll down the hill on Waihi Road towards State Highway 2 before ending up on its side opposite Lebanon Street.
