Traffic delays following an accident near the McLaren Falls turnoff are expected to clear once a damaged vehicle has been cleared.
A car struck a bank about 400m from the turnoff about 1.30pm, blocking a lane. There followed a second nose to tail collision in the traffic queue.
Emergency services are at the scene. Fire fighters washed down the lane before it was re-opened, says Fireservice Northcoms shift manager Scott Osmond.
An elderly man is believed to have suffered minor injuries.
