A trek on Thompson's Track left one Gate Pa woman with a dislocated shoulder.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Thompson's Track, in the Kaimai ranges, east of Matamata yesterday afternoon.

'A young woman suffered a possible dislocation of her shoulder in a fall while trekking,” says a spokesperson for the rescue helicopter.

'The lass, a resident of Gate Pa, Tauranga, was trekking with a large group, and had just crested the summit, when the injury occurred.

'Conveniently, the group was in an area that allowed the helicopter to land for a quick 'scoop and run”; this was further facilitated by the commendable first aid administered to the young lady by members of her trekking group.”

She was flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
