A truck and trailer unit has rolled on the Tauranga Eastern Link, causing delays this afternoon.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says the truck and trailed rolled at the roundabout where State Highway 33 and State Highway 2 meet, near Paengaroa, shortly before 4pm.
'A truck and trailer unit travelling from Matata has overturned on the rounabout. No other vehicles were involved and the driver is thankfully uninjured.
'Whilst traffic is able to flow currently, there will be some disruption to traffic flows when the equipment we need to right the truck arrives at the scene.”
Ian is unable to confirm what caused the truck and trailer to roll.
A crane and tow truck have since been dispatched to the scene, but Ian says it could take up 30 minutes for the equipment to arrive and another hour to recover the truck and trailer.
A reporter at the scene says the truck had been transporting a large container, estimated to be about 40ft long.
One lane of the roundabout is blocked, but traffic is moving slowly and traffic management is in place.
SunLive will update this story once more information comes to hand.

Makes me wonder,it looks as though the camber is wrong,it could not be as it was designed by engineers and CONS) ULTANTS, WITH NOTE PADS AND FLURO JACKETS, there will be another one soon at the round about going to tepuke it is way off camber it falls away to the left edge of road instead of to middle, what would i know,( a lot)Hope driver is OK,We will see what the BIGWIGS say, with their tapes and measuring cameras, just pick it up,Who knows,Thanks Sunlive the BEST in the Bay.

Looks like another case of NZTA got it wrong again! The chamber on the roundabout is totally wrong - it leans OUT from the roundabout, not IN, so that large vehicles do not "fall over" at stated road speeds. Have a look at: http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/local-papers/kapiti-observer/76729363/fifth-truck-rolls-at-otaihanga-roundabout AND the comments about the roundabout - $3 million job and the chamber is all wrong - BUT, NZTA say nah - !!!!

The roundabout has a negative camber; for some reason? It encourages this type of result for loads with a high centre of gravity.

This is their outcome. Truckie was probably was going too fast but you have to allow for idiot drivers. Even a lay person can see the design is totally wrong.

This roundabout is like no other in NZ it has extreamly tight entrance curves so if you approach it at the speed you would on any other roundabout in NZ you will have problems. I found this out the first time i went around it in a heavy vehicle. So yes Maildrop it is a case of go exceptinally slow around this one. Much slower than normal or you will land up like this one and many others before it.

Look at allt he truckers here to tell us it's the roundabout's fault. Despite hundreds upon hundreds of trucks succesfully navigating this roundabout daily. I drive the TEL through to Kawerau every day, and some of the behaviour from truckers on this road is astonishing. I'm unsurprised by this.

Do you want to explain why the roundabout was remodelled just recently? Being brand new it should not of needed changing. Want to tell everybody why??? Obviously it was cause it was not considered safe by many motorists and they acted on the complaints...
Ok Chris

Seeing as you are not going to do it the whole top of the roundabout was graded off and all vegitation was removed because you could not see oncoming traffic over the roundabout until it was too late.
