Tauranga's being treated to some real 1960's music nostalgia over the summer.

First British beat legends The Troggs will play Totara Street in December.

'It's been a long time,” says lead guitarist Chris Britton.

'1982 – we even did a an open air gig in Invercargill.” And it went ahead. 'I remember the oysters were brilliant.”

They're best known for 'Wild Thing” – the simple buiy heavy guitar riffs and the unforgettable and flirtatious.

'I think you move me.” The band, in a couple of different incarnations, has been laying the song for 50 years. 'They still love it, they still want to hear it,” says Chris.

‘Wild Thing' became an anthem for teenagers in 1966 along with 'A Girl Like You” and 'Love is All Around.” The song remains in the Rolling Stone magazine's list of 500 greatest songs of all time.

And the Hollies, also out of the 1960's rock revolution will perform their Highway of Hits New Zealand Tour at ASB Baypark Arena on Sunday February 26.

Anyone 50 plus will know the distinctive harmonies, brilliantly crafted songs and sublime musicianship. The Hollies have a catalogue of hugely popular hit songs which have ensured the longevity of the band and its music for over 50 years – songs like 'I'm Alive”, 'On a Carousel”, 'The Air That I Breathe” and 'Stop, Stop, Stop.”
