ANZ opens Tauranga Crossing branch

Tauranga Crossing is now home to New Zealand's newest ANZ branch.

The new branch was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout and ANZ Regional GM Northern David Graham this morning.

It's the seventh branch serving the greater Tauranga region.

Located in the open-air section of the mall, the branch will provide banking services to one of the country's fastest growing communities.

'Tauranga is where everybody wants to be. New residential developments, such as The Lakes, will house around 7000 people when complete and a 195ha business estate and major shopping centre will transform this small town into a significant commercial and residential centre,” says David.

'In addition, the neighbouring suburbs of Pyes Pa, Bethlehem, Hairini, Tauriko and Kaitemako, which are easily accessible to the Crossing along the motorway, are all projected to continue experiencing high growth into 2031.

'With the rapid surge of people and businesses moving into the region, the new branch is in an ideal location to look after our customers in the area, and new customers moving to this fantastic part of the country.”

ANZ Tauranga Crossing will have a team of 13 retail specialists, several of whom will be familiar faces from the Greerton branch, and four business banking specialists onsite to help service the commercial growth in the area.

The new branch will also feature the latest version of NZ's Smart ATM, and a coin exchange machine in a secure 24/7 lobby, as well as iPad and teller technology making it easier and quicker for customers to do their banking.

For businesses, 24/7 lobby means customers can make end-of-day deposits even if they miss seeing the customer service team.

The branch will be open seven days:

  • Monday – Wednesday 9am – 4.30pm
  • Thursday 9am – 6pm
  • Friday – Saturday 9am – 4.30pm
  • Sunday 10am – 4pm
  • Public Holidays 10am – 3pm

Ra ra at the opening but the bank's massive profits were not able to be used to keep other branches open e.g. Greerton. And please, no rhetoric about how few people visit a bank. Each time I have visited the Greerton bank there has been a queue, albeit short at times. A major factor being overlooked is that the aging population is not comprised of techno wiz kids all capable of doing online banking. The banks may have to allow more than 3 log-on errors before users are blocked, plus extending the time-out. These issues could create more work for the banks and anguish for users.
